It’s time for the South Miami Rotary Art & Crafts Festival

South Miami Rotary Art Festival [dropcap]T[/dropcap]he South Miami Rotary Art Festival returns on February 21-22, 2015, from 10-6 on Saturday and 10-5, which is a new earlier breakdown time, on Sunday. The annual show continues to be one of the most popular and best attended events in the area.

The festival was started in 1984 by John Sorgie, Karen Dorfman, Lydia White, and other members of the Red Sunset Merchant’s Association. It started as a small show with only 25 booths; it has grown into one of Miami-Dade’s most anticipated events.

The Festival features150 exhibits of fine arts and high-end crafts from around the country, multinational food, live music, and a wonderful beer garden. Admission is free and there is ample garage and on-street parking in this exciting area filled with historic buildings, trendy restaurants and unique shops. For the third year in a row Greg Byers and Friends will be having a jam session on stage in the beer garden/food court from 6-8 PM. Each year more people stay to enjoy the wonderful jazz and get drinks from the Rotary drinks booth. In addition on Saturday from 1:45-2:15 the Children’s Voice Chorus led by Jamie Perez Sutta will be performing.

The Art Festival is produced entirely by volunteers of the South Miami Rotary Club. “The proceeds from our festival fund college scholarships for South Miami students, elementary and middle school dictionary giveaways, and other local, national, and international service projects,” adds Wendy G. Lapidus.

The South Miami Rotary Art Festival takes place in the vibrant downtown area of South Miami on Sunset Drive (SW 72nd Street) from US 1 to Red Road (SW 57th Avenue) adjacent to The Shops at Sunset Place. The area is filled with historic buildings, restaurants and unique shops. Just three miles south of Miami’s Coconut Grove, South Miami borders the University of Miami and the beautiful neighborhoods of Coral Gables and Pinecrest.
