The Divine Savior Academy Varsity Volleyball team, led by head coach Matt Willems and assistant coach Brittany Babler, is the recipient of the 2018-2019 Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Along with winning the AVCA award, the 2018-2019 DSA volleyball team finished up an incredible season last year by winning the FHSAA Class 3A State Championship.
That Volleyball State Championship was the first State Championship ever in Divine Savior Academy history. With the core of their team back from last year’s Championship run, this promises to be another exciting year for the Sharks. Congratulations to the team for winning this award and for representing Divine Savior so well both on and off the court!
