The Children’s Voice Chorus (CVC), will perform its Let Them Grow Benefit Concert, Saturday, March 5, at 6 p.m. at Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57 Ave., Pinecrest, FL 33156. The group’s ensembles, with students from grades three through 12, and soloists will be showcased. They will be joined by South Florida native Christina Alexander, who is director of Social Responsibility at WICKED the musical, where she is responsible for the Broadway, national tour and London productions.

We are excited to collaborate with Christina Alexander, an incredibly talented singer who aligns with the vision of CVC,” said Jamie Sutta, founder and artistic director of the Children’s Voice Chorus. “Christina is demonstrating that it is possible to wear multiple hats in the music industry ― from a career that has put her front and center on stage to playing a vital role in ensuring diversity and inclusion in the musical theater arena.”

A native South Floridian, Ms. Alexander has a bachelor’s degree in music from Barry University and a master’s degree in musicology from the University of Miami. She has worked as an inclusivity consultant with groups including the Florida Professional Theatres Association, Chorus America, Trip Advisor and others. Among her passions is her work with communities, including correctional institutions, to provide opportunities for artistic development and expression. She joined WICKED in 2021.

Let Them Grow will include “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman and the Our Voice of Miami ensemble (the top performing group of the CVC) will perform “Steal Away,” arranged by Patrick Dupré Quigly, the conductor of Seraphic Fire. Ms. Alexander will be featured as a soloist in both numbers.

The non-profit chorus gives children in South Florida the opportunity to explore their talents in music. Its music program is offered free at the after-school program in Florida City and South Miami of Branches, a non-profit organization that helps working families achieve success and break the cycle of generational poverty. The concert showcases the importance of transformative music programs for children and benefits the Branches choir programs as well as the choir’s general scholarship fund, which helps to remove barriers to families in the community by providing assistance such as free tuition, transportation, uniforms and classroom supplies. The CVC has performed with many artists and in 2020, 30 members of the chorus sang “America the Beautiful” with Yolanda Adams at the LIV Super Bowl.
