Vi at Aventura, the senior living community, was recently recognized with two awards in the 31st Annual National Mature Media Awards Program. The program, presented by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for the senior market, recognizes the nation’s finest marketing, communications, educational materials, and programs designed and produced for older adults.
“Stump the Maestro,” the daily one-hour Facebook Live musical segment created by Vi at Aventura residents pianist Peter Fuchs, 92, and wife Veronica, 84, received a Gold Award in the web-based and mobile resources category. Vi at Aventura’s original in-house talk show, ‘A La Vie at the Vi,’ (‘To Life at the Vi’) hosted and led by residents Sherry Schaeffer, 75 and Susan Shovers, 80, received a Bronze Award in the marketing and communications category.
Peter Fuchs, a holocaust survivor, relied on his music during the war as a way to survive and thrive in the face of adversity. Today, he uses his talent as a Broadway musician and composer to offer support and joy to his community during these uncertain times. Veronica Fuchs is an acclaimed singer and host of the segment.
‘A La Vie at the Vi,’ now in its second season, airs on the community’s in-house television station. Schaeffer and Shovers created the weekly program as a way to stay connected to fellow residents during the pandemic and it has now become an integral way for residents to stay informed. The program includes an opening theme song written by 86-year old songwriter and fellow resident Barbara Cromarty and is performed by Peter Fuchs.
“We are so excited to be awarded this recognition for the second year in a row,” said Renee Garvin, Executive Director, Vi at Aventura. “This is a true testament to how vibrantly our residents choose to live in retirement and we are proud to help them pursue their passions.”
The entries were judged by a distinguished panel of mature market experts for overall excellence of design, content, creativity and relevance to the senior market.
