An unusual cold snap arrived in Aventura the same time as 38 Wounded Warriors participating in the annual Soldier Ride arrived, but there was tremendous warmth and respect that filled the room at the Residence Inn Aventura for the Warriors annual send-off breakfast with the community .
Aventura City leaders, including Mayor Howard S. Weinberg, Esq, Commissioners Amit Bloom, Cindy Orlinsky and Cliff Ain, City Manager Bryan Pegues and Police Chief Michael Bentolila and a full contingent of Aventura police officers were there to show their respect for these warriors who have given so much to keep us safe and free. Former Miami-Dade Comm. Sally Heyman postponed a trip to be there for the Warriors, saying, “This is my favorite event of the year!”
Mayor Weinberg added, “ As Mayor, I have never missed this send off of heroes, and G-d willing I never will.”
Members of the Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce (AMC) brought snacks and AMR Medics brought a case of water for the Warriors who were about to embark on their four-day cycling experience to Key West and back, pushing their limits beyond what they thought was possible, and leaving with a deeper understanding of who they are and what they are capable of. Gift bags filled with goodies and hand painted with messages of support from 14 year old Jake Allen and Victoria Adler were distributed to all the Warriors and the 10 staff members accompanying them.
