Students Districtwide to Participate in AI Events and Activities

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is excited to celebrate Computer Science Education throughout December with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI).  Building on more than a decade of success with The Hour of Code, BCPS is looking to the future with a new global initiative, The Hour of AI.

This initiative invites students to take their first steps – or advance their existing knowledge – in creating with AI by participating in at least one hour of AI activities from December 1 – 19, 2025.  With support from the BCPS Applied Learning Department, students across the District will engage in interactive, easy-to-follow activities designed to help them understand how AI works, explore core concepts, and learn to use the technology responsibly to make a positive impact.  Activities are provided through Code.org, Minecraft, MakeCode, Micro:bit, Family STEM Nights and other AI-focused resources.

In addition, on December 11, 2025, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn will visit Liberty Elementary School in Margate (2450 Banks Road) to participate in The Hour of AI with fifth-grade students. The event begins at 10:15 a.m.  MEDIA ARE INVITED TO COVER THIS EVENT.
