Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them, but you know that they are always there. Christy Evans
It started with five good friends about ten years ago. These five friends, Michael Stern, David Bloom, Brian Foster, Neal Sklar and Scott Kustan, decided to test their skills on the ski slopes of a mountain. Little did they know at the time that the trip would become a staple of their lives, creating a strong bond of friendship amongst them, no matter where they were.
Every year, this trip takes place with the destination being different each year, but with the same concept: friends getting together to ski, play poker, have some beers and create lifelong memories and friendships. Over the years, word spread of the group, and more friends wanted to join in. As the group grew, the name, Five Guys and a Mountain, so named in a feature story about the experience in the Aventura Magazine, stayed the same.
The ski group now has 16 friends who year after year look forward to this annual tradition.
Their most recent trip was to Aspen, and the votes were in “Nothing less than spectacular!” Former Aventura Vice Mayor Howard Weinberg said, “This was my fourth trip and it’s always great bonding, camaraderie and friendship. We have such an amazing group that it’s just as much being off the mountain as it is being on the mountain!”
The group now includes the original five, plus Scott Krasick, Mark Feldman, Hans Maestre, Howard Weinberg, Ricardo Paz, Jay Goldman, Mark Eiglarsh, Michael Bercun, Salo Gorin, Robert Cooper and Moshe Cohen.
