The Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative (WBHI)—a leader in disease prevention and early detection— returns with its 8th Annual Pink Walk—5K Run and Walk hosted by Miami Dade College-North Campus. Leading into Breast Cancer Awareness Month, WBHI’s Pink Walk 2024 will be held the morning of Sunday, September 22nd inviting the community and their families to run or walk, while raising funds for grassroots educational programs on disease prevention and local resources for early detection of breast cancer.
Returning this year to supercharge the morning, Constance Jones, news anchor for NBC 6, WTVJ South Florida, will serve as the emcee for the WBHI Pink Walk 2024. Waking up households with the top-rated weekday morning show, Ms. Jones will invigorate the runners and walkers while inspiring participants to help the community beat the odds of breast cancer.
WBHI Pink Walk 2024 registration is $40.00, and participants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal. Runners and walkers are also empowered to play an active role in helping to transform and save lives by setting up a personal fundraising page. Special swag will be awarded when participants raise $50, $100, $250, $500, and more, helping WBHI get to its $100,000 goal. Proceeds will benefit the Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative for its grassroots community services including early detection, health education, care coordination and patient navigation.
The morning event begins with registration at 6:00 a.m., opening ceremony at 7:00 a.m., and run/walk kickoff at 7:30 a.m. The WBHI Pink Walk will feature live entertainment and DJ, sponsor samplings, and more.
Supporters of WBHI’s 8th Annual Pink Walk can also participate virtually outdoors in the 5K Run and Walk around their neighborhood, or at the park, beach, or other convenient outdoor location. All are invited to spread the word among friends, family, and the community at large, while challenging three other people to join in.
Each year, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 43,000 die. Despite remarkable advances in treatment and early detection, breast cancer remains one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers among American women, and it remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths.
