The North Miami Public Library is thrilled to announce the launch of its 2024 Summer Reading Program, taking place from Monday, June 3 through Saturday, July 13. The American Library Association (ALA) has dubbed this year’s theme, “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” This year’s program promises exciting activities and opportunities for children, teens and adults to enjoy reading and learning all summer.
Every Tuesday at 10 a.m., from June 11 to July 12, the library will host a series of fun and educational events for children. The schedule includes Crazy Science – Liquid Nitrogen Discoveries on June 11, a Wild Animal Show on June 18, a Magic Show on June 25, the Orlando Youth Circus on July 2, and Mystic Drumz – The Road to Jell-O Town on July 9.
In addition to these weekly events, there will be a special Wild Animal Show on Saturday, June 15, at 10 a.m., where families can enjoy a day filled with fascinating creatures and fun activities. The program will culminate with Family Fun Day on Friday, July 12, at 10 a.m., featuring games, activities, and the announcement of our reading challenge winners!
Starting June 3, participants can sign-up for the Summer Reading Challenge to log reading activities for six weeks. Registration is available online at NoMiLibrary.ReadSquared.com or in-person at the North Miami Public Library, 835 NE 132nd Street, North Miami, FL 33161.
Exciting prizes are up for grabs for participants in various age categories. The first-place winner in the children’s category, ages 6-12, is eligible to win a $500 gift card, a large Lego set valued at $200 for 2nd place, and a $150 gift card to the Lego Store for the 3rd place winner. Teens, ages 13-17, can win a $500 gift card for 1st place, Reality Racer Pro Packages for Deezerland for 2nd place, and a $150 Amazon gift card for 3rd place. Adults, ages 18 and older, will compete for a $500 gift card for 1st place, a $300 Target gift card for 2nd place, and a $150 Visa gift card for 3rd place. The winners will be announced at the Family Fun Day and Book Fair on July 13, at 10 a.m., at the North Miami Public Library.
