This year’s City of Aventura YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE (YSS) ended with thunderous applause, proud families, and more than a few standing ovations, and it’s clear that the future of the performing arts is in good hands. For the 16th year, the Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce (AMC) worked with Creative Director Ran Oz to produce yet another professional showcase of singers from throughout South Florida at the state-of-the-art Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.
What unfolded onstage was more than a show. It was a testament to dedication, joy, and the indescribable emotion felt as the singers moved the audience from tears to laughter.
The evening began with a trio of YSS Legacy Singers, Camie Liz, Emily Taylor Kaufman and Jazzy Rozze, delivering a phenomenal “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. That opening number set the tone for the rest of an incredible evening of entertainment. Next onstage was crooner Mikie Blumenthal who captivated the audience with his cover of ‘Just the Two of Us”. The audience was entranced with Liya Mizrachi, the youngest performer, as she sang “Hallelujah”. Belting out “Never Knew Love Like This Before” was Markaya Belidor, whose powerful voice resonated throughout the theatre. Hearts were touched as Samantha Schmerling sang “A New Day Will Rise.” Jazzy Rozze fired up the audience with her big-star energy with “I Will Survive”. Adir Arama showcased his vocal technique with astonishing riffs in singing “Perfect”. Sage Duke embodied the “Wow” factor as she emotionally sang “Listen”. Mikie Blumenthal and Ilan Tarrab enchanted the audience with their fabulous Sinatra medley. Legacy singer Mason Pace, who also was the band guitarist, thrilled the audience with his high-powered “Crazy Train”. Amelia Hernandez delivered a passionate bilingual “The Power of Love”. Camie Liz had the house dancing as she belted out “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”. The charismatic Ilan Tarrab crooned a great “Suspicious Minds”. Camila Pocovi inspired the audience with her emotional delivery of “A Million Reasons”. Lila Fuchs turned the theatre into an opera house with her remarkable performance of “The Doll Aria”. Emily Taylor Kaufman sang her award-winning “I Have Nothing,” showing great emotion with her powerhouse voice.
The grand finale song was the high-energy ‘I’m Good” with all the Young Stars taking their bows as Ran Oz recognized each one and the band members.
What made this showcase extraordinary wasn’t just the skill on display, though technique, stage presence and professionalism were evident, but the confidence and authenticity each performer carried. Some delivered quiet, intimate storytelling; others electrified the audience with powerhouse vocals or choreography bursting with personality. Every moment, whether dazzling or understated, revealed hours of practice, resilience and heart.
Equally inspiring was the sense of camaraderie. Backstage, performers encouraged one another, shared nerves and excitement, and celebrated each other’s victories. Onstage, many collaborated, harmonizing, partnering, or blending styles in creative ways that pushed the boundaries of performance.
Audiences weren’t just watching a show; they were witnessing talent abounding and passion igniting. The applause wasn’t merely appreciation. It was recognition. “I expected a good show, but I wasn’t prepared to be this amazed. The talent on that stage was unbelievable!” said an audience member.
