Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In 2019, Aventura Commissioner Michael Stern was diagnosed with colon cancer, and his life immediately changed. Colonoscopies are recommended screenings for everyone beginning at age 45, however Michael was fearful of the test, and waited until he was 52 and had symptoms, and that’s when he received the diagnosis of colon cancer.   Today, Michael is a National Ambassador for Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC), to spread the word about the importance of having a colonoscopy.   Through his efforts, multiple cities in Miami-Dade and  Broward counites have issued proclamations to proclaim March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness month in their municipalities.  Early detection can save lives!
