A locally produced and filmed documentary, The Poison Garden, about a painful chapter of racism in South Florida’s history over 100 years ago, will be shown free of charge to attendees on Thursday, May 18th, 6:30pm at the Aventura Library located at 2930 NE 199th Street, Aventura 33180. Reservations are not necessary.
The documentary was written and directed by Chris Mancini and produced by Mancini and Evellyn Santos after years of research and labor poring over court records and interviews with family members. There are no famous actors, nor special effects that we have come to expect from movies these days. This is simply a powerful story that will linger with you long after you have seen the film.
The Poison Garden has already won seven film festival awards and is in contention for many more this summer. Awards include Best Documentary, as well as others for directing and producing.
Mancini is a former Assistant U. S. Attorney as well as a former Federal Prosecutor and former Deputy Chief of Major Crimes in the US Dept. of Justice.
