The Miami Marlins are offering a special opportunity on Wednesday, August 17th to members of all Chambers of Commerce during their Chamber Day this year as the Marlins take on the San Diego Padres with a 4:10pm game Prior to the game, Chamber members will have the chance to hear from top leaders in the organization during a speaker event with Marlins General Manager Kim Ng and COO Caroline O’Connor. The $35 ticket includes a $10 food and beverage credit with seats located on the exclusive Legends level.
Kim Ng made headlines in 2021 when she was named the Miami Marlins general manager, becoming the first female GM in the history of major North American men’s pro team sports and the first East Asian American to lead a Major League Baseball team. It was widely celebrated as it showed a breakthrough for women in sports where traditionally men have more power roles.
Joining Ng will be Caroline O’Connor, the Miami Marlins current Chief Operating Officer and Interim Chief Executive Officer. O’Connor is another woman in power with one of the highest-ranking female executives in professional sports after being promoted to the position a year after joining the team in 2017.
Both have shown great promise and strategic moves to the organization in the front office and on the field at loanDepot park. Ng has been able to extend the contract of the Marlins’ superstar ace and now recent All-Star, Sandy Alcantara, who has already been awarded National League “Pitcher of the Month “ in June. O’Connor has helped brainstorm with other leadership in the organization to ensure improvements to the ballpark and bring in new initiatives, such as their more recent supporters’ section, Sandy’s Beach.
If you’re a member of any Chamber of Commerce, here’s a great way to learn more about your hometown Miami Marlins GM and COO, learn more about how these two women in power made their way up the business ladder to dominate their roles and then enjoy a Marlins game.
