The City of Aventura is pleased to announce that Deputy Chief Christopher Chastain has joined Chief Michael Bentolila in leading the Aventura Police Department. The recent ceremony at Government Center marked an important milestone as Deputy Chief Chastain officially stepped into his new role, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a commitment to enhancing public safety, community engagement, and service excellence.
In addition to welcoming Deputy Chief Chastain, the city also celebrated the promotion of Captains Anna Howell and Jaime Chalem to the rank of Major. These promotions reflect Aventura’s dedication to recognizing and advancing the outstanding leadership within its police department.
With 26 years of law enforcement experience at the Davie Police Department, Deputy Chief Chastain brings extensive knowledge and experience to Aventura, where his leadership, alongside Chief Bentolila, will uphold the high standards in policing that residents have come to expect.
“It is a true honor to join Chief Bentolila in leading the Aventura Police Department,” said Deputy Chief Chastain. “I am committed to upholding the values that define our community and leading our department with integrity, accountability, and the utmost respect for those we serve. Together with Chief Bentolila, we will ensure that Aventura continues to be a place where safety and community spirit thrive as we move the agency into its next chapter.”
Deputy Chief Chastain’s vision focuses on deepening the understanding of the challenges faced by the department and strengthening internal relationships. By working closely with Chief Bentolila, he is dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment where officers and residents work hand in hand to maintain Aventura’s reputation as a safe and welcoming community to live, work, and visit.
City Manager Ronald Wasson expressed his confidence in the strengthened leadership team, stating, “Deputy Chief Christopher Chastain’s addition to our leadership team, working with Chief Bentolila, represents a renewed commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.
