As a continuation of last year’s exhibition “Water-Ether”, Etra Fine Art (located in Miami’s Little River Art District) will present, “Biosphere-Noosphere” during Miami Art Week that coincides with the return of Art Basel Miami Beach 2022. Guests can deepen their understanding of Vladimir Vernadsky’s revolutionary theory through paintings, sculptures, poems, writings, music, and mixed media. The Opening Reception will take place on Sunday, November 27th from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Etra Fine Art, 6942 NE 4th. Ave. Miami, Fl 33138.

Participating artists include: Jesse Allen (Kenya, El Salvador); Douglass Freed (US); Claudia Hakim (Colombia); Yoko Iwanaga (Japan); Juan Raul Hoyos (Colombia, US); Titi Kerndt (Colombia, US); Jorge Olarte (Colombia); Karl Pilato (US); Andrea Dasha Reich (Prague, US); Claudia Quacinella (Colombia, US); Lina Sinisterra (Colombia); Betsy Stewart (US); Rose Umerlik (US); Rafael Valdez (Ecuador); Yigit Yazici (Turkey, US); Hugo Zapata (Colombia); and Ronny Vayda (Colombia), among others.

Biosphere: relatively thin life-supporting stratum of Earth’s surface, extending from a few kilometers into the atmosphere to the deep-sea vents of the ocean. The biosphere is a global ecosystem composed of living organisms (biota) and the abiotic (nonliving) factors from which they derive energy and nutrients.

Noosphere: a philosophical concept developed and popularized by the Russian-Ukrainian Soviet biogeochemist Vladimir Vernadsky, and the French philosopher and Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. Vernadsky defined the noosphere as the new state of the biosphere and described it as the planetary sphere of reason. The noosphere represents the highest stage of biospheric development, its defining factor being the development of humankind’s rational activities.

      Biosphere – Noosphere

Opening Reception: Sunday, November 27th 12:00–5:00 pm

Exhibition continues through the end of January 2023. By appointment.

      About Etra Fine Art

Now located in Little Haiti (Little River Art District) and previously rooted in the renowned Miami Design District for nearly 10 years and Wynwood for two years, Etra Fine Art focuses on representing and promoting a wide variety of mid-career and established international artists whose work represents modern and contemporary styles. The gallery exhibits paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, photography, and installations that reflect progressive concepts while incorporating traditional and non- traditional materials. Because of its location at the crossroads of the Americas and Europe, Etra Fine Art has made it a priority to connect artists and collectors from both regions.

In addition to promoting and exhibiting artists, Etra Fine Art works with private collectors, corporations, and interior designers to build collections by researching, locating, acquiring, and installing an array of artwork.

Alicia Restrepo graduated in Economics first and Art later and has been in the art business since 1983. She was recognized as co-owner of one of the most important galleries in Soho in the eighties and nineties, before moving her business to Miami in the early 2000’s.
