Fort lauderdale rotary awards $40,000 in scholarships to 18 area high school graduating seniors

The Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale presented $40,000 in scholarships to 18 outstanding graduating seniors from area high schools at its annual awards luncheon next week.

The recipients were selected through a competitive process that included an application, essay and recommendations from school faculty and community leaders. Since the inception of the program, more than $2 million in scholarships have been presented.

The students were honored at the club’s weekly luncheon meeting on Wednesday, June 8 at the Global Events Center of the First Baptist Church:
