Tuesday, June 25, Goya Foods will present the donation alongside Mayor Alix Desulme
Goya Foods, America’s largest Hispanic-owned food company, will donate 2,500 pounds of products to the NoMi Food Pantry. The NoMi Food Pantry, operated by the City of North Miami, provides fruits and vegetables, protein, dairy and shelf-stable items to registered North Miami residents, twice a month.
“Giving back to the communities we serve has always been at the forefront of Goya’s mission,” shared Cynthia Chipi, Marketing Director of Goya Foods of Florida. “We are honored to offer this donation to the NoMi Food Pantry and to be able to continue helping the communities that have supported us for so many years.”
“It is with great pleasure that we announce the new partnership between the City of North Miami’s NoMi Food Pantry and Goya Foods, Inc.,” said Alix Desulme, Ed.D., Mayor of North Miami. “Partnerships like these help us increase the number of households in need that we can serve in our City and to ensure that all members of our community have access to nutritional food options. Since I started this initiative back in 2019, I’ve been proud to witness the pantry’s growth to the point of having nearly 750 registered households. This is why partnerships like this one mean so much.”
“This is a great opportunity to extend the reach of our NoMi Food Pantry’s service to the community,” said Alberte Bazile, the City of North Miami’s Housing and Social Services Department Director. “North Miami is known for being very culturally diverse and celebrating our diversity in a number of ways. This new local partnership with Goya Foods opens the door for us to introduce more food options that speak to the cultural flavors of kitchens all around our City.”
Through the company’s Goya Gives initiative and since the company’s humble beginnings, Goya has a long history and tradition of supporting communities in times of need. Goya has always supported health, nutrition, and educational initiatives as well as donated millions of pounds of food to food banks, organizations, schools, hospitals, and healthcare providers worldwide.
All members of the media are invited to The NoMi Food Pantry, which is located at Sunkist Grove Community Center, 12500 NW 13th Ave., North Miami, FL 33167, on Tuesday, June 25 at 10 a.m. for the donation.
