Cassadee Pope, Platinum-selling artist and Academy of Country Music Award nominee, returns to her native South Florida to take the Gateway main stage and officially welcome residents and guests to Sunny Isles Beach’s new park. Pope was previously nominated for a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Female Country Artist, has toured with superstar artists Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, and Darius Rucker, and was the first female winner of hit reality TV show, The Voice.
“We are thrilled to welcome Cassadee Pope and the entire Sunny Isles Beach population to our newest signature park,” says Sunny Isles Beach Mayor George “Bud” Scholl. “We anticipate Gateway Park to be Sunny Isles Beach’s new hub of cultural activity where residents and visitors can enjoy a diverse array of special events and programs.”
Special emcee for the evening is none other than Kiss Country morning personality, U-Turn Laverne. Opening acts at the Gateway Park Grand Opening include local South Florida bands, Curbstone and Higher Ground. Curbstone performs the best of classic rock, covering greats such as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Buffet and James Taylor, and Higher Ground specializes in high-energy performances featuring Top 40 tunes.
Gateway Park was completed in November 2016, then open to the public with limited hours. By the end of 2017, Gateway Park was teeming with activity at the 10th Annual SIB Jazz Fest and the inaugural Pre-New Year’s Eve in SIB. The five-acre park features a first-class outdoor performing arts stage, state-of-the-art play area, and parking garage.
Tickets for the Gateway Park Grand Opening are $5 with a valid SIB Resident ID Card or $15 without. Tickets can be purchased at the SIB Government Center, Pelican Community Park or online at sibevents.ticketleap.com. For more information, visit sibfl.net or call 305.792.1706.
