Community fundraising effort supports healthcare in Miami-Dade County and expands services at Jackson Health System
The power of community was on full display as Jackson Health Foundation surpassed a major milestone, raising $1 million during its second annual “One Day for Jackson” campaign. The effort, held April 3, brought together residents, businesses, and healthcare workers across Miami-Dade County in support of Jackson Health System—one of the largest public healthcare systems in Florida. Learn more about their services and mission on their official website.
The total more than doubled last year’s fundraising effort, highlighting growing support for healthcare in Miami-Dade County and the critical role Jackson plays in providing care to residents across South Florida. Funds raised will help expand advanced treatments, invest in new medical technology, and support continued improvements across Jackson facilities.
A key project tied to this initiative is a new emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital, expected to open in 2026. The facility is projected to be among the largest in the country, reinforcing Jackson’s role as a leader in public healthcare in Miami and access to quality medical services.
The campaign drew support from a wide range of contributors, including hospital employees, corporate sponsors, local restaurants, and community members. Participating businesses donated portions of their proceeds, while events and outreach efforts helped raise awareness about the importance of community healthcare support in South Florida.
Flavia Llizo emphasized the broader impact of the organization’s work, noting that even those who have never visited a Jackson facility benefit from its presence in the community.
As the campaign continues to grow each year, it stands as a clear reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together—ensuring that Jackson Health System can continue delivering life-saving healthcare in Miami-Dade County for years to come.
