The Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center’s Board of Directors’ Vice Chair – Facilities and Operations, Danny Halberstein, is only one of the many people excited about the current construction project of Phase I of the MAR-JCC’s Campus improvements, which includes the reconfiguration of the Center’s main parking lot.
“We will do our best to make sure that during construction of each segment of this project, we are sensitive to the needs of our members; unfortunately there will be a slight adjustment period until everything is completed,” Danny explained. Construction is slated to take approximately 60-90 days, however, in the end there will be approximately 113 additional new parking spaces, a much-improved flow of traffic, new drop-off and pick-up sites for the JCC & Hillel, and new landscaping. “We have spent many months with architects and parking lot and traffic experts, figuring out the best way to alleviate our parking challenges by adding more spaces, and at the same time develop an easier and safer flow of traffic. We believe,” added Danny, “we have come-up with an excellent solution.”
“This,” according to MAR-JCC President & CEO, Gary Bomzer, “will be the first phase of our JCC’s campus and improvement projects. With our Capital Campaign committee actively working to meet the fundraising goal needed to begin construction of our new George Feldenkreis Cultural Arts and Education Center, which will house the Alan & Diane Lieberman Theater, the Kiblisky Gymnastics Studio, the Woldenberg Rikudim Dance Center, and other interest rooms, “we are extremely excited about moving forward to accommodate the growing needs of our North Miami-Dade Jewish Community and becoming a center of activity for all ages and interests.”
