“Anecdotes of Laughter and Success” features four fearless and funny women at Icebox Café luncheon
Light. That was surely the operative word as One Medical / UHealth sponsored a luncheon at the beautiful Icebox Café for the Chairman’s Roundtable members of the Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce (AMC).
The program was ‘light-hearted’ as women shared their “Anecdotes of Laughter and Success”; the Hon. Emcee Luz Weinberg enlightened the full-house audience about the history of International Women’s Day; Dr. Vanessa Villacorta-Sierra, Medical Director for One Medical, lit up the room not only with her explanation of One Medical and the great care they give their patients, but also with a surprise Flamenco dance…her hobby that lights up her life!
UHealth is affiliated with One Medical, a membership-based primary care office with great benefits that make it fast and easy to receive care. Benefits include same/next day appointments in person or on video; 24/7 on-demand care with free video chat; pediatric care for babies, teens and in-betweens; opportunity to manage your medical history and care plans, book appointments, message your provider and request and renew prescriptions in their app; convenient access to, and coordinated care with UHealth providers with expertise in over 100 medical specialties.
Roundtable members were professionally welcomed outside by Reef valet parking attendants, and as guests walked thru’ the unique indoor garden area, beautiful music from Young Star singer Camie Liz and Master Pianist Moises Herrera filled the air. Four Mayors, including Aventura Mayor Howard S. Weinberg, Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Larisa Svechin, Bay Harbor Island Mayor Josh Fuller and El Portal Mayor Omarr Nickerson were pleased to meet the One Medical / UHealth team as well as the full house of business leaders and other elected officials. Almost the entire City Commission was present, including Vice Mayor Billy Joel and Commissioners Michael Stern, Rachel Friedland, Amit Bloom and Paul Kruss as well as Police Chief Michael Bentolila.
AMC Chairman Gary Pyott, Campbell Property Management, opened the meeting by explaining the theme of “Anecdotes of Laughter and Success”. Not only was that day International Women’s Day and the program was featuring four women, but the reason why ‘laughter is the best medicine’. “From increasing your intake of oxygen-rich air, to relieving stress response and aiding in muscle relaxation to improving your immune system and relieving pain, laughter should be on everyone’s health horizon!” said Pyott. He turned the podium over to Emcee, the Hon. Luz Weinberg, former Aventura Commissioner now representing Esplanade at Aventura, the new luxury outdoor retail and dining experience in Aventura.
Weinberg introduced each of the women sharing their humorous life anecdotes, starting with Carolyn K. Stein , author, international speaker, world traveler and risk-taker, whose topic was “Mother, Act Your Age!”. Maia Mediavilla, Lifestyle Director for the Vi at Aventura, shared her stories about being a naïve young marketing assistant who was –back in the day day–charged with developing a market for adult videos, and her topic was “Champagne, Playboy and South Beach”. Next up was Donna Mairs, Marketing Manager for Clear Channel Outdoor, who wrote a poem about the complexities and power of women for her theme, “Up, Up and Away” . And then came the afternoon surprise—Dr. Vanessa Villacorta-Sierra’s Flamenco beautiful Flamenco dance exhibition….afterwards inviting up any brave souls who would like to learn Flamenco footwork. Myrna Vaca from UHealth and Stefan Ilies, Let’s Dance Miami, took up her challenge and the music began. Cameras were flashing, people were laughing and it was over way too soon. Another exceptional AMC meeting in the books!
