Hotwire Communications and ONR sponsor AMC Breakfast Meeting
“Welcome to the first ‘in-person’ Breakfast Meeting for the Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce in a very long time!” said Bob Hollander, AMC Past Chairman and Emcee. Yes, it had been 1 ½ years since the pandemic seemed to take over our world. With health protocols in place, the AMC planned an exciting program to ensure a memorable event would be in store for members who had participated in over 145 Zoom meetings since March, 2020, thanks to Zoom Administrator Michael Stern. As wonderful as Zoom was to keep everyone connected, there’s nothing like seeing your friends and clients in person…even with a mask on, you can see the twinkle in their eyes and hear the happiness in their voice. Guests arrived to hear superb singing by Jazzy Ortiz, one of the AMC’s superstar singers from their annual Interiors by Steven G ~ Young Stars Showcase.
When the AMC heard about “The Human Baton” taking place on Las Olas Oceanside Park in Fort Lauderdale on 9/11 as a tribute to America’s heroes, there was no doubt that it would be an exciting program and an opportunity to invite all the members to the free Human Baton event that weekend.
Meeting sponsors were Hotwire Communications and ONR. Joe Ferst, Senior Vice President of Hotwire Communications, said, “We are proud to say that we were the first and most successful community-driven fiber optics telecommunications company in the United States, and we could not have done it without our Hotwire team and with the support of the South Florida community. Teamwork and community have guided Hotwire from just three employees at its inception in 2000 to more than 1,300 employees today. We are proud to serve those 1,300 families who work for Hotwire day in and day out, along with the thousands of families in our communities.” The Hon. Howard Weinberg, Corporate Counsel/Government Relations for Hotwire, added, “Among the many properties Hotwire is proud to serve are both of the City of Aventura’s charter schools, ACES and Don Soffer Aventura High School; JW Marriott Turnberry Resort-Turnberry Country Club; Turnberry Ocean Club; Acqualina Resort & Residences; Porsche; and Prive’.”
Alan Gucovschi, Co-Founder of ONR, explained that ONR is the only all-in-one community management platform for condos and HOAs, specifically designed to tackle 21st-century challenges that property managers, board members, owners and residents face. Carlos Guzman, CEO of ONR, added, “Community associations had a transparency and corruption problem—until two Miami locals decided to step in and resolve what seemed impossible.
ONR is the story of a Latino duo who developed an app that would forever change how buildings are run, guaranteeing transparency and efficiency in the decision-making processes. ONR is a newcomer to the digital concierge game that has been rising fast, mainly because it combines the needs of hotels with those of community associations, creating ecosystems that simplify connectivity between the residents and building administration. We’ve created a one-stop shop that facilitates the reservation of public spaces and amenities, controls incoming/outgoing packages, and even allows our users to order food straight from the restaurants onsite. ”
The Human Baton was the first relay of its kind…with a human being in place of the traditional “baton” being passed from one team member to another…by land, sea and air, where endurance, skill, speed and where every second counted. Teams of military, law enforcement, fire rescue and patriots competed in this national race being turned into a documentary. Nina Harrison attended the event and said, “The energy was amazing…a very inspiring event and I felt SO patriotic!” Highlighting the event were the 60 supercars in a rally that Floyd Raglin brought in from Lamborghini Broward, Super Car Saturdays Florida and Exotics on Las Olas. Spectators were able to get up close and personal with the owners of these incredible cars, ranging from Lamborghinis to Ferraris to McLarens.
ONR’s Alan Gucovschi introduced Brett Williamson to start the program. “Brett joined The Human Baton as Co-Founder /International Business Development to secure and manage the critical team owner and sponsorship relationships. He is also a successful filmmaker and philanthropist, co-founding the Progression Foundation.” Joe Ferst from Hotwire then introduced Phil Carrington, Co-Founder and Producer of The Human Baton. “Phil served eight years in the Royal Marines Commandos, and his skills and experience allowed him to become an accomplished expedition leader, commercial diver and professional rope access climber. He has created international adventure sports shows for television, such as The Human Baton. But Phil doesn’t just create them…he lives them, including a two-man crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in a rowboat, kayaking 2,300 miles down the Yukon River, 1,000 miles from Switzerland to the London Eye down the Rhine, and then running seven marathons back-to-back through the Grand Canyon.”
With the introductions done, a brief but powerful video of what The Human Baton would be, took over the room, leaving the audience wide-eyed and eager to learn more. And learn more they did, as Carrington explained the purpose and future of The Human Baton. Chas Rodgers from the Veterans Prostate Cancer Awareness Group, one of the military participants in The Human Baton, spoke about the importance of prostate screenings.
Ending a great morning meeting was the drawing of the door prizes: special packages to The Human Baton, provided by Nicole Champagne, Strategic Partnerships for The Human Baton.
