Over 40 girls recently participated in yet another great session of The Power of the Heels Foundation. The meeting started with a morning engagement exercise led by Silvio Berlfein from Group Engagement Specialists and ended with a motivational song created just for Gladys Mezrahi, founder of the program, and her team.
The words of the song were, “Here we are preparing for the future today; Passionate committed women finding our way; We’ve been given skills to be good leaders right from the start; And we feel it’s being given to us straight from the heart.”
Sonia Jacobson, Founder of Suited for Success, explained the importance of dressing professionally and how Suited for Success can help them get fitted free of charge with the perfect outfit for an interview including shoes, handbag and jewelry. Jacobson also offered lessons on how to interview and how to write a resume.
Aletha Player, former FPL executive, had a candid conversation with her daughter Crystal and how she raised her with very high standards and strict rules. Crystal, now a teacher, told her side of the story and how she was a rebel and her mother did not know anything, until she was 29 when she realized her mom knew everything.
Melissa Robles, a single mom spoke about her choices in life and how the wrong ones changed her life. Robles, now 40 years old, found out how hard it was to be a single mother with no degree and being passed over for promotions. Robles is now going to school at night and working hard to receive her bachelors’ degree.
Mezrahi said, “We are so proud of this program and the positive impact it has on the lives of the young ladies who participate. We have been so fortunate to have some incredible interns helping us succeed: Sophia Furman, Ariela Mareyna, Andrea Bromberg and Daniela Martinez from Nova University School and Mast Academy, as well as a committed mom who delivers snacks for everyone for every session. Thank you, Carolina Rodriguez, and Executive Caterers for a delicious lunch!”
