Thousands of people came together on February 23rd to cycle, run or walk at Miramar Regional Park in support of the Heart Institute at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood.
Their combined efforts, as well as those of the 80 sponsors, helped raise more than $375,000 for the Fifth Annual Invicta Tour De Broward, presented by zMotion.
Since the event’s inception in 2010, Tour de Broward has raised nearly $2 million for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. As the title sponsor for the second year, the Invicta Watch Group created a unique men’s watch that commemorated Joe DiMaggio’s 100th birthday. The proceeds of the sale of these 1,000 watches have been donated to Tour De Broward.
“We’re proud to have been involved in such a wonderful event in support of a very meaningful cause,” said Eyal Lalo, president and CEO, Invicta Watch Group. “With everyone’s hard work, the event surpassed its goal.”
“Each year, we are pleased to see new supporters come out to participate in Tour De Broward,” said Kevin Janser, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Memorial Healthcare System.”We are grateful that our community continues to embrace this cause, which helps our pediatric patients who suffer from congenital heart disease.”
Estimates for participants included more than 750 cyclists who rode in the 50K and 100K cycling challenge, while the 5K Run drew 900 runners. An additional 1,000 people participated in the 3K Family Walk— many of whom were Heart Institute patients and their families–and participants in those events, as well as others from the community also enjoyed spending family time in the ANF Power of Play Kids’ Zone.
