Valentine’s Day Love Story : Reuniting octogenarian couple after 41 years

Aventura resident Frank Ures, 81, instantly knew he had met ‘the one’ the night of a fraternity social at the University of Florida in 1960. “Carol was 18, innocent, yet sophisticated with beauty queen potential,” Frank recalls. They quickly fell in love and after five years of dating, planned to wed.   Unfortunately, their parents felt they were too young and did not approve.

They parted ways, Frank moved to California, started a bank, married and had two children. Carol stayed in Florida, became a schoolteacher, married, fostered children and adopted a special needs child.  They had gone their separate ways, but neither had forgotten their first love. It would take a google search by Frank and more than four decades before the two would reconnect in 2006;  each had been divorced from their spouses.

After a long-distance relationship and several in-person reunions, Carol relocated to California. This time they decided to stay together for good. The couple married in 2009 and says they finally got it right. Today, Frank and Carol Ures are in their 80s but their affection for each other is as fresh and young as when they met in 1960. The couple retired to South Florida in 2017 and live at the senior living community, Vi at Aventura.
