The Fountain of Youth
8,736…that’s the number of times 92-year-old Estelle Bunson has listened to her audio swim CDs since retiring to Florida from Boston. Bunson has been practicing water aerobics six days a week for nearly three decades, relying on the same audio tape to get her heart pumping and muscles toned.
Since moving to Vi at Aventura in 2018, she has recruited fellow residents to the pool as well. Maddy Soriano, 74, joins Bunson four days a week and says swimming has impacted her physically, mentally and emotionally.
Through the years, Bunson has maintained excellent balance and flexibility and is proud of the level of fitness she has maintained. When she is not exercising and swimming laps in the pool, she enjoys playing bridge, shopping and cooking healthy meals. She loves living at the Vi at Aventura with her husband and says they chose the Vi for its perfect location near Miami Beach, where their son lives.
Bunson confirms that swimming regularly, in addition to eating clean and having good genes, has helped her maintain a great quality of life. She says the pool is the true fountain of youth.
“Mrs. Bunson is an inspiration to all of us,” said Renee Garvin, Vi at Aventura’s Executive Director. “Her determination to feel her best every day is her secret to longevity.”
