With the automotive industry still experiencing a technician shortage, Warren Henry Auto Group continues to try to fill that gap. The company, in partnership with the Miami-Dade College, and support from CareerSource South Florida, created a Service Technician Apprenticeship Program open to 20 students.
The two-year program was designed not only to foster theoretical knowledge but also to allow the students to gain hand- on practical experience from highly skilled technicians all while earning an income. The students are offered free tuition in addition to health insurance, books and other supplies. This hands-on training takes place at Warren Henry’s North Miami Headquarters where Jaguar and Land Rover North Dade operates from as well as the Land Rover South Dade Location. After completing the program, the technicians are awarded with a certificate of completion as well as automatic job placement at one of the company’s service locations.

Harrison. “We are committed to growing the local workforce and helping individuals achieve economic mobility through this and many other rapid credential programs at the College.”
Miami-Dade College has eight college campuses and outreach centers that offer more than 300 distinct degree pathways including associate and baccalaureate degrees, career certificates and apprenticeships. Baccalaureate degree offerings include biological sciences, engineering, data analytics, information systems technology, education, public safety, supervision and management, nursing, physician assistant studies, film, and others. MDC is the recipient of many top national awards including the Aspen Prize. As Democracy’s College, MDC changes lives through accessible, high- quality teaching and learning experiences.

In addition to the partnership with Miami-Dade College, they received tremendous support from CareerSource South Florida. CareerSource is a public-private partnership that establishes state and federally funded workforce development and training policies for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. They provide high- quality, customized employment and training solutions to workers and employers in support of economic development. Services are available to everyone at no cost through a network of centers located throughout the region.
