Yiddish, Craps and the Art of Living: A peek into Frank Kromsky’s Vibrant life at Vi at Aventura

https://communitynewspapers.comAt 92, New Yorker Frank Kromsky radiates the vitality of a man half his age. “Professor,” as he is affectionately known by his friends at Vi at Aventura, epitomizes the senior living community’s motto: “Live your best life for the rest of your life.” And he does this with a captivating blend of wit, personality and relentless enthusiasm.

Every Wednesday at 10 am, he can be found amidst a vibrant group of his peers, sharing his knowledge of Yiddish. “I’ll teach you everything your mother said to your father in Yiddish that she didn’t want you to understand,” Kromsky jokingly promises. His class not only educates but also revives nostalgia, culture, tradition and humor that Yiddish once brought to their households. Unquestionably, his students leave his class happier, feeling closer to their roots and to each other.

Beyond linguistics, Kromsky’s unique skills extend to teaching Craps. Transforming a Vi apartment into the ultimate Craps haven, he handcrafted the table himself. His Craps LIVE club runs every Thursday at 10am and is filled with regulars who love to roll the dice for the chance at bragging rights.

Kromsky is not just a teacher, he is a testament to the power of positive attitude and a vibrant lifestyle. Studies show that social interaction and lifelong learning can prevent cognitive decline, improve mental health and lead to a higher quality of life.

“Mr. Kromsky personifies vitality,” said Maia Mediavilla, Vi’s Director of Lifestyles. “His love for life is contagious and inspires many others to chase their passions and preserve their zest.”

The appeal of the Vi at Aventura community stems from individuals like Kromsky, who thrive on camaraderie and shared learning. Frank Kromsky’s story is a heartwarming reminder that age is just a number when you’re active, engaged and living with purpose.
