As we close the final chapter at the historic Dade County Courthouse (DCC), where landmark cases were tried and decided, leaving a lasting mark on our nation’s history—we are reminded of how far our justice system has come.
Completed in 1928 as Florida’s tallest building at the time, DCC has long stood as a symbol of Miami’s judicial legacy. It was the site of nationally significant moments, including the 1933 trial of Giuseppe Zangara following the attempted assassination of President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt at Bayfront Park, as well as high-profile cases like Al Capone’s 1930 perjury trial and the Mossler-Powers murder trial of 1966. These cases remind us that justice is more than a process — it is a public trust built over generations.
The opening of the Osvaldo N. Soto Miami-Dade Justice Center marks a historic milestone for our community. This 24-story, state-of-the-art facility features advanced technology that enhances public access to court services, secure spaces for judicial operations, and modern work environments designed to foster collaboration and exceptional customer service. With 46 courtrooms, improved accessibility, and sustainable design elements, the Justice Center reflects a lasting commitment to the people it serves.

As the Civil, Probate, Mental Health, Civil Jury Operations, Land Sales, and Recorder’s Offices transition from the century-old courthouse to this modern facility, our focus remains clear: to serve the people of Miami-Dade County with integrity, accessibility, and efficiency.
The Clerk’s team will proudly serve thousands of residents each week—from those filing civil and appellate cases, to individuals recording and obtaining official court documents, to constituents seeking assistance through our Land Sales, Probate, Guardianship, and Mental Health divisions. With upgraded technology, improved public spaces, and streamlined service counters, the Clerk’s Office is transforming how residents access justice. Every interaction, whether in person or online, reflects our mission to make justice accessible, equitable, and supported by exceptional customer service.
This new Justice Center represents an opportunity to build upon a proud legacy. It stands as a symbol of progress, accessibility, and our unwavering commitment to serve all who seek justice in our community.
