Ardbeg, the Ultimate Islay Single Malt Whisky, kicked off an epic Ardbeg Day celebration this past week with the Miami United Football Club and hundreds of South Florida whisky lovers. The event also launched Ardbeg’s newest Limited Edition release: Auriverdes. Taking place at at Blackbird Ordinary in Miami, Ardbeg Day featured live music from indie rock bands Hunters of the Alps and Shangri-La, and a performance by the Silvia Brazil dance troupe. Guests also enjoyed complimentary BBQ fare, whisky tastings, and delicious Ardbeg cocktails created by Blackbird’s head mixologist Fraser Hamilton (who also happens to be Scottish). Other partners of the event included BritWeek, Rooftop Soccer, the UK Trade & Investment, and Fine Spirits of Cooper City, which created an Ardbeg Pop Up store at the event where guests could purchase rare Ardbeg expressions at a discount. VIPs in attendance included President of Miami United Football Club, Roberto Sacca; members of the Miami United team; Kevin McGurgan, the head of the British Consulate General; and Hamish Torrie, brand director for Ardbeg who flew in from Scotland for the event.
The reason for Ardbeg Day? It’s a historic tradition! Every summer, the Islay Whisky Festival takes place for an entire week on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. On the final weekend of the festival, the 400 year old Ardbeg Distillery throws opens its doors for ‘Ardbeg Day’ to welcome fans from all over the world. This year Ardbeg, four time winner of the World’s Best Scotch Whisky award, took the celebration to single malt whisky fans around the world to toast its newest Limited Edition release. Guests in South Florida were among the first in the world to sample Auriverdes, which hits the shelves of US liquor stores throughout the month of June.
