Blind students from Miami Lighthouse will hear the roar of Ferraris, the power of McLarens, and get the joy of riding in Lamborghinis, Vipers and Porsches. On Saturday, September 13th from 11:00AM-1:00PM, get ready to rev up your engines with exotic cars all showcased for the day by generous donors to help blind students from Miami Lighthouse for the Blind experience an unforgettable day.
More than 70 Miami Lighthouse students will embark on an extraordinary adventure as they interact with an impressive fleet of nearly 20 high-performance vehicles. “For our students that may not be able to see the car they will definitely hear and feel the roar of the engines. For a number of our students, this will be their first encounter with high-end automobiles, and they will have the chance to sit in, explore and ride in these high-performance vehicles thanks to a few very generous donors” said Virginia Jacko President and CEO of Miami Lighthouse. Ms. Jacko, who is also blind, will be present to interact with the students, media and join in on the fun.
The highly anticipated event has been carefully designed to instill confidence through the power of touch and interaction with these captivating cars. “We are thrilled to offer this extraordinary opportunity to these blind students at Miami Lighthouse,” said George Foyo, Past Board Chair of Miami Lighthouse. “Interacting with the students and seeing their reaction to these vehicles is priceless and will not only broaden their horizons but also inspire them to dream big and reach for the stars. We are incredibly grateful to the car enthusiasts who have so graciously donated their time and vehicles to make this event possible”, said Caterina Sastri, Board Director and parent of a former Miami Lighthouse Academy student.
Miami Lighthouse students participating in the event include our Bright Beacons, early elementary school aged children attending Miami Lighthouse Academy, Pre-Employment Transition Program students aged 14-22 and Miami Lighthouse Music Program students who will put on an incredible performance. The event will reinforce what Miami Lighthouse teaches on a daily basis that—“It’s possible to see without sight™”.
Car enthusiasts and sponsors that will be donating their time to give these students an unforgettable experience include: Lead Philanthropic Sponsor Michael Weintraub and Lead Automotive Sponsor The Collection, as well as, Waymo, Grove Bank & Trust, Baptist Health South Florida, Homestead Miami Speedway, Miami International Autodrome, Gray Robinson, Cary and Ed Ruggiero, Luisa and George Foyo, Martha and Frank Voytek, The Fernandez Cabrera Group, JP Morgan, Juan Fernandez-Barquin, Jose Cueto, Caterina Sastri, Ryan DiMarzzio, Yolanda and German Valencia, Alexander Mendoza, Pepe Abrante Cosio, Dr. Mike McDermott, Dr. Ari and Patty Abril, Ali Mandsourwala, Jonathan Horowitz, Erick Passo, Olga Villaverde, SFM Services, Ben’s Pizza and others.
