Explore Florida’s incredible ecosystems with your kids, without leaving the city.
This year, “Family Fest” – ICA Miami’s annual event raising support for youth education – is a weekend adventure where families will explore Florida’s wildlife and ecosystems right in our backyard. And the best part is that ticket proceeds support the museum’s free youth programming year-round.
It all takes place Sunday, Sept. 28, 1-4 p.m., at 23 NE 41st St., in the Miami Design District.
Enjoy a day of discovery and imagination. Attending families will create art inspired by the Everglades, paint their faces like colorful reef fish, and engage in interactive storytelling.
Between creating bee luminaries with local Miami beeswax, crafting flying bird puppets, and building mini wetland ecosystems, this festival transforms learning into pure fun.
This year’s hands-on activities include:
Activities and Experiences
• Live animal show encounters with reptiles and other wildlife and lessons on conservation;
• Pollinator Movement Workshop where families explore how bees communicate and learn about the role of native pollinators in our ecosystem, and
• Storytelling, family-friendly deejay, face painting and photo booth.
Art-Making
• Bee Luminaries – Create glowing candles with local Miami beeswax;
• Flying Puppets – Design your own bird or butterfly puppet;
• Ecosystem Dioramas – Build a mini wetland ecosystem;
• Mask Making – Craft masks inspired by Everglades creatures;
• Plant Printmaking – Make art prints with leaves and flowers, and
• Fan Making – Create DIY fans inspired by the Saw Palmetto.
Purchase tickets at https://icamiami.org/calendar/family-fest-florida-wild-2025/. Tickets are $25 for adults; $15 for children 12 and younger, and include access to all activities, activations, and performances. Children ages 2 and under attend for free. Tickets are non-refundable.
