Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus recently hosted the Miami Invitational Student Racing Challenge sponsored by the National STEM (Science, Technology, and Engineering & Mathematics) League. Winners earned an invitation and travel stipend to the National Finals in May. Students engaged in the Student Racing Challenge, one of the four NSL Challenges, a motorsports-themed curriculum through which students optimize performance of their team and of a 1:10 scale racecar, just like professionals in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) or NASCAR. Other categories included head-to-head races that required engineering for each type of track, aerodynamic design, engineering design robotics marketing and project management.
