Chantal G. Osborne, Director of Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ (M-DCPS) Lindsey Hopkins Technical College, has been named one of three finalists for Florida’s 2025 Principal of the Year award.
“Ms. Osborne is without a doubt a true leader, a passionate leader,” said Rene Mantilla, assistant superintendent, Office of Post Secondary and Career and Technical Education. “She represents what it means to be a post-secondary college, to engage the community, the private sector. She’s an amazing leader and truly a testament to what we produce here at M-DCPS, your best choice.”
Last year, Osborne won top honors as M-DCPS’ Principal of the Year. For the past 29 years, she has been an educator at the District, beginning as a teacher for 18 years before moving up to assistant principal and then principal. Osborne said the most memorable moments in her career have been sitting on a stage during graduation ceremonies and watching the students relishing the occasion.
“I’m so grateful, and it’s so humbling to know that I’m being recognized for this amazing honor,” said Osborne. “I would not be here if it wasn’t for my faculty, staff, and the students. It’s been extremely exciting to showcase all the offerings that post-secondary has to offer our great community in Miami-Dade.”
The Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership Program was established in 1988 to recognize outstanding principals who have headed programs to increase student performance, promote safe learning and establish partnerships within their school and community. The 2025 Principal of the Year will receive a $3,500 prize, while the two finalists will each receive $1,500. The winner will be announced at a recognition luncheon at Champions Gate, FL on April 11.
