Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava recently announced that Margaret Brisbane, currently deputy director of the Information Technology Department, will become the county’s interim ITD director — bringing years of experience in technology development and modernization initiatives to her new role.
“I’m committed to advancing the great talent within Miami-Dade County to recognize the leadership and vision of our employees, and proud to appoint Margaret as our new interim Information Technology Department director,” Mayor Levine Cava said. “I’m thrilled that a woman will be running our Technology Department as we lead by example from within county government in uplifting diverse leaders in tech.”
Brisbane responded, “I am proud to step into this new role and looking forward to continuing to serve Miami-Dade as we build an even stronger department, developing technology solutions to meet the unique challenges of this current moment and providing excellent services to our residents.”
As deputy director of ITD, Brisbane worked closely with recently retired department director Angel Petisco in planning, directing, and coordinating the extensive and complex activities of the department. Among her many accomplishments during her tenure with the county since 2005, she led the oversight of three distinct technology branches with countywide operational impact; led the development of numerous applications to support the county’s COVID crisis response, such as implementing GIS solutions for food distribution sites, COVID testing sites, and more; and played a major leadership role in technology events such as eMerge.
Brisbane holds a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Florida International University.
