HCA Florida Mercy Hospital, a 488-bed facility and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the state, has announced the appointment of Jessica L. Miller as its new chief operating officer (COO).
A Miami native, Miller brings more than a decade of senior leadership experience in healthcare, with a proven track record in optimizing operations, improving patient outcomes, and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams in diverse hospital settings.
Miller most recently served as chief nursing officer at St. Mary’s Medical Center and the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital, part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation. In that role, she oversaw nursing operations for a 420-bed facility, managing key services such as surgical services, adult and pediatric emergency care, Level 1 trauma, comprehensive stroke care, Level 3 NICU, obstetrics and women’s services, oncology, intensive care, inpatient rehabilitation, radiology, and pharmacy.
Her leadership experience includes additional roles with Tenet Healthcare and Steward Health Care, where she served as the Miami market chief nursing officer.
Miller holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University (FIU). She also is an adjunct professor in FIU’s Health Service Administration Program, where she mentors aspiring healthcare leaders.
