Building on its commitment to community engagement and expanding accessibility to classical music, New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy (NWS), launches a new season of Mobile WALLCAST® concerts, an initiative to bring the symphony into communities across Miami-Dade County by pairing concerts on a giant screen with live performances in public spaces. The series will kick off during Miami Art Week with a special pop-up performance by Percussion Fellows at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, at SoundScape Park. Mobile WALLCAST® concert are free and open to the public.
First unveiled in 2022, the Mobile WALLCAST® series takes NWS’s groundbreaking WALLCAST® technology on the road. Currently the largest mobile wall in South Florida, the 23×13 screen consists of state-of-the-art LED panels and sound system, offering a local and captivating way to experience concerts under the stars. Mobile WALLCAST® concerts are free to the public and do not require a ticket.
Other Mobile WALLCAST® concerts will include January 23 at Sanctuary of the Arts in celebration of the City of Coral Gable’s centennial, March 21 at YWCA Overtown for Women’s History Month and April 24 as part of the Jazz at MoCA series in North Miami. The New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy (NWS), prepares graduates of music programs for leadership roles in professional orchestras and ensembles. Since its co-founding in 1987 by Artistic Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas and Lin and Ted Arison, NWS has helped launch the careers of over 1,300 alumni worldwide. In fall 2022 Stéphane Denève was named Artistic Director of the New World Symphony. A laboratory for the way music is taught, presented and experienced, NWS consists of young musicians who are granted fellowships lasting up to three years. The fellowship program offers in-depth exposure to traditional and modern repertoire, professional development training and personalized experiences working with leading guest conductors, soloists and visiting faculty.
