AVASK team in new Fort Lauderdale office

Global compliance firm AVASK opened a new office in Fort Lauderdale in June, marking the latest step in its expansion to help e-commerce sellers  grow across global markets.

Florida has become a hub for e-commerce entrepreneurs since 2020, attracting talent and  businesses from across the country. About 20% of AVASK’s current client base is U.S.- based, the company said, making North America a natural priority for growth.

“U.S. e-commerce is experiencing a major shift,” said CEO and co-founder Melanie  Katsaris. “Florida’s strong trade infrastructure and entrepreneurial ecosystem make it the  ideal location for AVASK to meet sellers where they are and support their journey into new  markets.”

AVASK was founded in 2012 in London by Melanie Shabangu and Angelos Katsaris to  address a growing need in international trade. As online marketplaces expanded, many  businesses faced complex barriers to cross-border growth. The founders set out to simplify  that process by offering tailored compliance solutions, starting with value-added tax (VAT)  and customs requirements.

Over the past decade, AVASK has broadened its services to cover a wide range of  international compliance regulations, building a reputation as a trusted partner for e commerce sellers. Today, AVASK operates 12 offices worldwide, including locations in the  United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and China. From these hubs, the company  supports clients in additional markets such as Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia and the  United Arab Emirates.

Its multilingual workforce, speaking over 25 languages, serves sellers across multiple  continents as they continue to expand their operations internationally. The company’s  global headquarters remain in Southampton, England.

Shabangu said the new office bridges the time zone gap between AVASK’s U.S. clients and  its international teams. “This expansion allows us to support an already diverse and  growing entrepreneurial community across the U.S. while bridging the time zone gap and  providing localized expertise,” she said, “It’s about being present where innovation is

happening and ensuring sellers have the compliance solutions they need to expand  confidently.”

For Alexandra Ramirez, director of U.S. sales and partnerships, the Fort Lauderdale office  underscores AVASK’s commitment to helping U.S. sellers expand globally with local  support.

“North American sellers are looking for clear, reliable guidance on global tax compliance as  they expand into Europe, the UK, and beyond,” Ramirez said, “Our U.S. team offers direct,  local support to simplify these complex processes and help sellers stay compliant while  scaling efficiently.”

Looking ahead, AVASK said the Florida office will also serve as a gateway to Latin America,  where e-commerce growth is accelerating.

“What excites me most is the opportunity to create a true hub for global expansion,  Shabangu said. “This is just the beginning of building a strong North American presence  that delivers impact worldwide.”
