[dropcap]A[/dropcap]lthough small, approximately 15.4 inches shorter than the Cherokee to be exact, the 2015 Jeep Renegade has huge things to offer.
No doubt its compact size sets it apart from other compacts, but it is also a joy to drive. The 2015 Renegade has unparalleled off-road capability as well as a great ride on road.
Additionally, the 2015 Renegade comes with a lot of customization options such as a wide array of vibrant exterior colors and interior trim pieces.
Design
The Renegade, Jeep’s entry into the small SUV segment, offers open-air freedom and iconic styling in an all-new efficient, trail and urban-friendly size, with beefy proportions and purposeful design elements. Inside, the Renegade has high-quality materials and maximizes versatility and capability through clever, thoughtful storage features and useful technology. With its powerful stance, rugged body forms and aggressive proportions, Renegade is pure Jeep design – styled for offroad capability and a city-friendly size. It has the clever My Sky roof panel system inspired by the Jeep Wrangler.
Under the hood
There are two powertrains options for the Renegade — either the 2.4- liter Tigershark engine with MultiAir2 mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission (30 mpg highway) or a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Renegade is unmistakably a Jeep with its signature seven-slot grille and accent colored “shield” surround. Like the Wrangler, the body-color vertical windshield surround provides visual strength to the vehicle. Large circular headlights are tucked under the hood at the top for a meaner look. Below the grille, a two-piece front fascia is aerodynamically tuned and has a body-color upper and molded- in-color lower for durability against the elements.
Short overhangs, trapezoidal wheel arches and a sculptural blend of fluid shapes interrupted by strong chamfers create Renegade’s rugged bodyside form, along with door-mounted side mirrors and a lifted belt line and wide fender forms to accommodate beefy tires.
Design
Adding to the contemporary look is a blacked-out daylight opening, with an available black roof option. At the sill, Renegade has lower molded-in-color accent cladding that adds protection, while lightening the vehicle’s weight. Linking the side profile to the rear is the familiar Jeep shield-shape that ties in the rear backlight and Wrangler-like square taillights with black accent surround. For added detail, the taillights have a new “X” form design theme inspired by military equipment – exuding strength and playing on Jeep brand’s roots. Below, the molded-incolor fascia cleanly integrates the optional trailer hitch receiver, along with red rear reflectors for added nighttime visibility.
Renegade offers open-air freedom with two available My Sky open-air roof systems. With a manual removable or power tilt/slide feature, My Sky roof-panel systems provide panoramic views. The honeycomb fiberglass polyurethane roof panels are lightweight and stow neatly in the rear cargo area.
Price
The starting MSRP on the 2015 Jeep Renegade is $17,995.
