Area Stage Company will be hosting auditions for the world premiere of LA NOCHE, a play by Jose Luis Acosta. The theatre is located at 1560 S Dixie Hwy, Coral Gables, 33146.
The play tells the story of a successful businessman who informs his wife and daughter, during dinner, that they will be facing bankruptcy. Emotionally destroyed by this dooming economic downfall, the family faces the thought of living in humiliation and misery.
The play will be performed in Spanish. Castilian accent is required. Actors should bring a one minute monologue prepared.
Below are the characters we seeking to cast:
Eduardo (45-55 years old). Elena’s Husband and Blanca’s father. Charismatic and seductive. Like any good businessman, he likes to take risks, but this time, he crossed the line in business and his personal life as well.
Elena (35-45 years old). Eduardo’s wife and Blanca’s mother. Loves the good life, the status and the image that comes with wealth. She has expensive taste and lives a simple and uncomplicated life, never worries too much about what her husband does outside the house.
Blanca (15-22 years old). Eduardo and Elena’s daughter. Though she has never seen warmth in her home, she
has experienced the fascinating world of her successful and charismatic father. Excessively cold, does not
value money, has always had everything she’s wanted.
Lucia – (30-50 years old). Eduardo and Elena’s Housekeeper. An immigrant from a country with a very different
background from the world that her employers are used to. Never loses her dignity and is emotionally detached
from the family.
