The Miami Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora(Miami MoCAAD), in collaboration with Tech Girl Power and the Miami-Dade Public Library System, will host its inaugural Miami MoCAAD ARt + Tech workshop for students in grades 6-9, on Wednesday, May 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Coral Gables Library (3443 Segovia Street Coral Gables, FL 33134). Free and oen to the public, space is limited so register now:
Students will have the opportunity to tap into their creativity and delve into the boundless potential of augmented reality. Guided by prompts inspired by the virtual reality exhibition produced by Miami MoCAAD, the workshop will showcase the works of gifted artists hailing from Africa and the African Diaspora, spanning Brazil, Haiti, Zimbabwe, and the United States, including the renowned Miami native, Mark Thomas Gibson, a graduate of Miami’s New World School of the Arts High School.
Students will also have the opportunity to:
- Work with prefabricated 3D assets
- Incorporate personal media
- Infuse cultural elements reflecting backgrounds and communities
