Alexander Luis Bucelo was born and raised in Coral Gables. He is a partner in Bucelo Law Group, a boutique law firm that represents clients in real estate acquisitions and property claims. His community service includes serving in the Coral Gables Code Enforcement Board, Planning and Zoning Board, Coral Gables Museum Board, Mayors’ Advisory Board and the War Memorial Youth Center Association Board. He is a member of the Cuban-American Bar Association and the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.
Bucelo majored in Business Administration at Florida International University and later attended St. Thomas University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor. Alex is married to Cristina and they reside in Coral Gables.
When asked what he would do in the first 100 days after being taking office he said, “As a candidate for the Coral Gables Commission, I have several priorities I would like to tackle after taking office, including ensuring that the character and charm of our community is maintained, our community remains safe, taxes remain low without reducing city services, Coral Gables is more environmentally resilient and remain opposed to large-scale development.
“However, during my first 100 days, I would work with the mayor and commission to call for a special committee to review and provide ideas on how to improve our permitting process. I believe that as technology continues to evolve, there have to be more efficient ways for us to process and approve permits, as well as provide better feedback to our constituents when there are issues with their permits.”
