The growth of Miami’s legal landscape continues and Young, Berman, Karpf & Karpf, P.A. has announced the acquisition of two law firms to become one of Florida’s largest family law practices. Amber R. Glasper, a well-known family court attorney, is one of the region’s leading attorneys for divorce, adoption, dependency and domestic violence matters and her honors include 2021 “Guardian of the Year” in Miami-Dade County, for her work as a Guardian Ad Litem protecting children.
Additionally, the firm has added Matthew P. Meyers, a leading Florida criminal defense attorney, with extensive experience in state and federal matters. As a former state prosecutor, Meyers is well known for case work including RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) matters, where he has addressed multiple criminal allegations.
Both Glasper and Meyers will work out of the firm’s Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton offices as part of their statewide case work.
The firm has also hired three additional associate attorneys: Erica Appel, Esq., Liza Birchansky, Esq., and Hazel Gorrin, Esq., all of whom work in the field of divorce and family law.
The firm’s growth has been led by managing partner, Brian Karpf. It now has 9 lawyers practicing family law, which is one of the largest family law firms in all of Florida. However, its focus remains on quality, not quantity. “Amber Glasper will continue our firm’s tradition of providing top-tier service and professionalism in divorce, paternity and family law matters” said Karpf. “She also has an impressive track record in the unique practice areas of dependency, adoption matters and the protection of children while working as a Guardian Ad Litem.
“We’re also pleased to add Matthew Meyers who is known for his work in white collar criminal defense and domestic violence work, allowing us to serve families with additional legal needs,” added Karpf. Meyers also works on family law matters.
Glasper’s experience includes serving as a prosecutor with Florida’s Department of Children and Families as a prosecutor and working for Miami-Dade’s Children’s Legal Services. She has also served as in-house counsel for CHARLEE, a community-based care agency, and is on the Board of Directors of Kidside, whose mission is to protect children and family court services such as counseling and investigations to families in need.
With vast experience as a defense attorney, Meyers has represented clients facing criminal charges in state and federal courts, including jurisdictions outside Florida. He is known for achieving successful results in serious cases including drug trafficking and murder. He has represented clients in domestic violence matters in both civil and criminal courts.
In bringing their practices to Young, Berman, Karpf & Karpf, attorneys Glasper and Meyers are strengthening the firm’s resources for clients throughout Florida. For additional information, visit www.ybkklaw.com
