Hundreds laced up their sneakers and gathered at the Lakes by the Bay Park in Cutler Bay for the first annual Cutler Bay Turkey Trot 5k on November 18, 2023. The event raised over $20,000 for the children of southern Miami-Dade.
Community members joined forces to support causes like Community Health of South Florida’s Children’s Crisis Center. A generous $9,000 donation was presented to Blake Hall, President and CEO of CHI, in support of the crisis center that will directly benefit children suffering from severe mental illness.
Perrine-Cutler Bay/Palmetto Bay Rotary Club hosted the walk and gave scholarships to Cutler Bay Senior High School seniors. Attendees enjoyed entertainment and fitness with family and friends. Miami-Dade Mayor, Daniella Levine Cava was also in attendance to address the audience and opened the inaugural run.
“It is beautiful to witness the community coming together today for a great cause,” said Alejandra Aguilera, President-Elect of Perrine-Cutler Bay/Palmetto Bay Rotary Club. “These children are our future, and they need our support.”
Miami’s Community Newspapers was proud to serve as the event’s media sponsor.
