The Homeless Trust will present its plans for La Quinta Hotel at a Town Council Workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 6 p.m., at the Town Hall Council Chambers.

Residents will be able to share their input during this workshop and make their voices heard. The Homeless Trust, a Miami-Dade County agency, hopes to convert La Quinta into residential units for homeless people.

In a video message from town manager Rafael Casals regarding the upcoming meeting, he encouraged Cutler Bay residents to attend.

“I wanted to give you an update followup on Mayor [Tim] Meerbott’s comments regarding the Homeless Trust possible acquisition of La Quinta Hotel on Caribbean Boulevard,” Casals said. “Since the last communication with Mayor Meerbott we have been working diligently with the Homeless Trust, the county commissioner’s office and the county mayor’s office to coordinate a meeting for the general public, as well as the mayor and town council, to receive an update directly from our folks from the Homeless Trust. The council and Mayor Meerbott will take this matter very seriously to the point that we have scheduled the town council workshop dedicated just for this one item.”

The exchange of information will take place in a public “Sunshine” open form meeting.

Town Hall is located at 10720 Caribbean Blvd.
