Team delivers presents to patients at PATCHES and Speediatrics unit at
Homestead Hospital during annual visit Thursday; Santa Claus part of participants
The team started their day spreading holiday cheer at PATCHES, a non-profit facility staffed by pediatric nurses, certified teachers and respiratory and rehab therapists that provide nursing care to children with extreme medical needs, as well as support and education to the caregivers of the children located in Florida City. Homestead-Miami Speedway donated more than 75 gifts to children as young as newborns and as old as teenagers. The next stop for Santa was at Homestead Hospital, visiting children in the Speediatrics unit, Betty Jane France’s Children’s Emergency Room, supported by Homestead-Miami Speedway, NASCAR and community donations.

PATCHES is a state-licensed, non-profit facility staffed by pediatric nurses, certified teachers, and respiratory and rehab therapists that provide nursing care to children with extreme medical needs, as well as support and education to the caregivers of the children. Treating children from birth through age 21, PATCHES is an alternative to in-patient hospital care and more-isolated home care.

Homestead Hospital is one of two hospitals in the country to boast Speediatrics, a Betty Jane France Children’s Emergency Room that is financially supported by Homestead-Miami Speedway, NASCAR and community donations. Through these efforts, more than $1 million has been raised for Speediatrics, the only dedicated pediatric unit in the southernmost region of Miami-Dade County.

The 2015 Ford Championship Weekend will be held November 20-22.
