Sue Ellen Loyzelle, who has served as Cutler Bay Town Council member for Seat 2 since 2010, was elected vice mayor on Nov. 8.
Loyzelle said she is “very excited” about her new role in town government and the support of residents.

“I have worked tirelessly over the past six years as your councilwoman and I am looking forward to my next four years as vice mayor,” Loyzelle said. “This new position will give me so many more opportunities to serve the residents of this great town.

“I truly appreciate the vote of confidence that the residents have bestowed upon me as vice mayor and I, as always, take my position seriously. I have heard loud and clear what matters to our residents and I am so looking forward to serving each and every one of you,” she said.

“I am so proud of all who voted in our town and I will make you proud of your choice as we all work hard together to continue to make Cutler Bay a great place to live, work and play.”

Loyzelle said that there are a number of things she wants to focus on as she begins her work as vice mayor, the position vacated by Ernie Sochin, who was term limited.

“My first priority will be to revisit our Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations as we move toward smart balanced growth that will meet the future needs of our residents as well as managing our infrastructure to meet that growth,” Loyzelle said. “I will continue to work regionally as well as locally on traffic calming and transportation infrastructure to meet the growing demands.

“I am committed to working with the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Miami-Dade County Transit and our surrounding cities to bring real traffic solutions as we all know this is a critical issue for everyone.”

When asked if there was anything she wanted to say to the residents of Cutler Bay, Loyzelle, who likes to be called Susi, responded:

“You all live in a beautiful place with wonderful schools, parks, programs and cultural arts,” Loyzelle said. “We all need to come together to be strong and push forward for what it is that we need and want in our town. We need to grow our businesses, bring new restaurants and make Cutler Bay the best place in the South Dade Community. Thank you once again for your support and confidence in me.”
