Hundreds of families gathered at Doral Central Park – Community Center this past Saturday for the city’s Back to School Backpack Event, where local leaders and community partners distributed free backpacks and school supplies to students in preparation for the upcoming school year.

The event, hosted in partnership with District 5 School Board Member Danny Espino, Mayor Christi Fraga, Councilman Rafael Pineyro, and Councilwoman Nicole Reinoso, aimed to ensure that every child in the Doral area starts the new academic year equipped and ready to succeed.

Families who registered in advance received backpacks filled with essential school supplies, while children enjoyed a welcoming and festive atmosphere. Community partners, including Baptist Health, the GEMRT Foundation, MegaTV, and Dade Technology Solutions, played a critical role in sponsoring and supporting the effort.

“This event is a powerful reminder that when we come together—schools, families, and community partners—we can eliminate barriers and open doors for every child,” said Board Member Danny Espino. “I’m grateful to our partners and proud to support Doral’s students as they head back to school.”

The Back to School Backpack Event is part of the City of Doral’s continued commitment to supporting youth and families through accessible services and community engagement.
