The outlook for breast cancer by 2014 in the United States according to estimates of the American Cancer Society is:
• Around 232.570 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed.
• About 62,570 new cases of in situ (CIS) will be detected breast carcinoma (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
• About 40,000 women will die of breast cancer.
• Breast cancer remains the most common among women in the United States, after skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.
• The probability of a woman having invasive breast cancer during her lifetime is 1 in 8 Furthermore, the likelihood of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 36.
Death rates from breast cancer have been declining. Presumably, this reduction is the result of earlier detection and improved treatment.
In this October month, warning against breast cancer, the American Cancer Society invites the community to participate in your event Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. It is in this event we celebrate the lives of over 2.9 million women who today are survivors of breast cancer in the country and where we also reaffirm our commitment to continue fighting this disease. This event aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and raise money to remove it. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the network’s biggest events and influential country nearly 300 communities uniting to fight breast cancer. These noncompetitive walks raise funds that allow the Company to fund innovative breast cancer research, provide free information and services and to ensure that women who need mammograms have access to them.

• Road to Recovery (Road to Recovery) is a service offered by the American Cancer Society, in which volunteer drivers provide transportation for cancer patients to meet their program appointments. About 43,000 patients have been able to save more than $ 38 million in lodging costs with this free service.
