On Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, Carol Medina of the Cutler Ridge Woman’s Club (CRWC) visited Cutler Bay Town Hall to present a check for $5,000, a donation for the beautification of town parks.

Medina hand delivered the check to town manager Raphael Casals, Policing Unit Major Leonard A. Ricelli and Parks and Recreation director Etienne Bejarano.

“We raised funds from our members or by selling baked goods, etc.,” said Jean Tong-Noon of the CRWC. “The donation to the Town of Cutler Bay was to help place park benches, picnic tables and other things for park improvements.”

The Cutler Ridge Woman’s Club was founded in 1956 and is one of the oldest organizations in continuous operation in Cutler Bay.

Casals said that their efforts are much appreciated.

“Since its inception, the club and its members have been very engaged in the betterment of this community and continuously organize donations and other philanthropic projects that benefit our residents,” Casals said.

Medina was presented with a Police Challenge Coin by Major Ricelli in appreciation for all of the club’s contributions to the community throughout the years.

The CRWC is a tax deductible nonprofit club that welcomes donations, but they are only accepting checks or cash for now. For information contact them by email at GFWC.CRWC1956@gmail.com.
